The all-time best and highest-selling car in India, the Maruti Suzuki Alto needs no introduction. The car was launched in 2000 and came with a 3-cylinder fuel-injected petrol engine producing 45 bhp of power paired with a 5-speed gearbox. In 2011, a new Alto called K10 was launched which featured a 1-litre engine producing 66 bhp of power and 89Nm of torque. The car is known for its great mileage and hassle-free ownership experience. Maruti Gypsy debuted as the third model from Maruti in the year 1985. This was Maruti’s foray into the world of SUVs. Maruti Gypsy was a very capable, rugged 4x4 that made India fall in love with the off-roading culture and to a greater extent SUVs. It initially came with a 970 CC engine making 45 BHP. Later it was upgraded to the 1.3 litre unit powering Esteem and was rebadged as Gypsy King. The most notable feature was that the car always came built with a selectable 4WD transmission. The reliability and off-roading capability of the car was so good that it soon became a mainstay of the Indian Armed Forces and Police. In fact, the go-anywhere nature of the car was good, that the Army unofficially rated it second best after the Arjun main battle tank. The car has attended a legendary status in the Indian Rallying scene winning multiple awards.

Maruti debuted this car in the Indian market in 1999. The car came with the “Tall Boy” design principle and was launched as a direct competitor to Hyundai Santro. A unique feature of the car was its ability to accommodate even the tallest of passengers with ease and ample interior space. At launch, the car came with a 1.1-litre petrol engine producing 64 bhp and 84 Nm of torque and included features like power steering and power windows. In 2006, Maruti launched the LPG version with the moniker DUO which allowed owners to run the car either with petrol or LPG providing a very low running cost. Over the course of time, Maruti kept updating the car and the present generation of Wagon R was launched in 2019. The car is now offered with a 1.2-litre engine producing 82 bhp and 113 Nm of power and torque respectively, mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT transmission. Maruti has a few luxury cars and Kizashi was one of its first. It was launched in 2011 as a family-size sedan and had the largest wheelbase of all the cars sold by Maruti. A mid-luxury SUV, Maruti Jimny is a stylish off-roader with a ground clearance of 210 mm. The boot space of 208 litres can be extended to 332 litres when the second row is collapsed. It has two variants, Zeta, and Alpha. Colour options are quite good, two dual-tone and 5 monotone shades are available. The petrol engine is 1.5-litre, with either 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. A 4-wheel drivetrain is standard in all vehicles. The features are more or less the same as Baleno and Brezza as are the safety features. This model was made as a competitor to Mahindra Thar or Force Gurkha.
